Olympic Proportions

This…

Does NOT equal…

This!

And this…

Does NOT equal…

This.

So don’t think you can eat all of this…

And look like…

This… Or…

Any of these luscious ladies!

Obviously you all know that the 2012 Summer Olympics are in full swing.

Use it as motivation to get off your rump and get moving. Pretend your aiming for THE GOLD while sweat trickles down your face during your intense bike ride or imagine everyone eating your dust as you dash on by!

If you do that… then maybe you can eat…

This.

Or…

This.

Or…

This!

No you all want…

Looks like it’s time to get MOVING!

That’s One Hot Dog! GiGi Eats Groceries

Ball Park Franks. Sausages. Frankfurter.

All of these words are synonymous with calorie loaded lard explosives.

Luckily the hot dog gods (AKA Applegate Farms) heard my (or perhaps our) pleas and decided to appease me/us by making healthy dogs! That’s right, HEALTHY hot dogs!

Hey Sexy Face!

Grass-fed and grass-finished red meat is far healthier for you than the grain-fed red meats you usually stumble upon in your local grocery store. In order to make sure you’re purchasing the grass-fed variety, the label must clearly state that the animal got to nosh on lawn (grass-fed), otherwise you’re purchasing the corn-stuffed beef.

Grass-fed beef, it’s what’s for dinner!

*PS: Clearly this post ain’t for the vegans and vegetarians out there. I apologize for this, but you can still share it with any of your meat-loving friends!

Body A La Food Network

How many of you watch the Food Network Channel and feel as though your waistline expands two sizes in those thirty delicious minutes?

Trust me, I am right there with you, especially when Giada sprinkles hazelnuts over her freshly churned chocolate-hazelnut gelato and when Duff applies the finishing touches to one of his masterful cakes.

While you may rush to the bathroom scale after your favorite Food TV show (ahem… The Next Food Network Star) to convince yourself that you cannot absorb calories through the TV screen (although I do believe Emeril Lagasse is working on “smell-a-vision”) one might wonder how some of these celebrity chefs keep the pounds in the freezer.

Clearly we all know Paula Deen had a kinky love affair with a few too many sticks of butter…

…but she has since gone to lard rehab and lost thirty pounds in the process!

If you didn’t pick up the Health Magazine with Giada De Laurentiis on the cover, then you missed out on her “skinny tip”… Well you’re in luck because I have the, slightly annoying (because there are NO fancy tricks involved), trick she uses so she can button up her pants.

“I eat a little bit of everything and not a lot of anything. Everything in moderation.”

Giada also hikes, does yoga and paddle boards on a regular basis. Oh and she’s a nut lover (gutter mind returns!). She noshes on almonds when she needs a snack.

You may have noticed (or maybe not) that Alton Brown has lost weight over the past few years, 50 pounds to be exact!

Alton created four “food lists,” such as, “Foods to Eat Daily”, “Foods to Eat Three Times a Week”, “Foods to Eat Once a Week” and “Foods to Avoid at all Times”. To see these lists (that I completely approve of, Go Alton!) check them out here.

The “grill master” Bobby Flay even watches his figure.

He credits Iron Chef America for his tight buns (ah ha, see what I did there – buns, hamburger buns… Ok I am a loser) because he apparently runs around kitchen stadium like kids playing tag on the playground. Okay, okay, he also goes running outdoors almost every morning and takes a chapter from Giada’s book by eating food in moderation too.

“TIME’S UP! UTENSILS DOWN!”

Are you wondering why I didn’t detail the diet tips of say… Guy Fieri? Well maybe this will answer your question!

Awesome.

Alright, enough about healthy eating… The Next Food Network Star finale is July 22nd!! It’s TIME TO EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE: Who are you rooting for!

Don’t forget, Thursday a new GiGi Eats Groceries video debuts!

Oprah and Janet, Yo-Yo Masters

Remember the kid at school who could do snazzy tricks like Walk The Dog, The Creeper and The Eiffel Tower with his (or her – yes there are some bad-ass chick yo-yoers, SEE BELOW) yo-yo?

Yeah, well… Oprah and Janet Jackson never mentioned that they too can throw down some yo-yoing… Their best tricks?

The Weight Yo-Yo Rollercoaster.

Never heard of it? Well it will certainly amaze and entertain you, check out their moves in the latest episode of GiGi Eats Celebrities!

By the way, the point of this video is that yo-yo dieting is not healthy!

Regular Soda Better Watch Itself! GiGi Eats Spin-Off

Alright, be honest… who chugged about a liter (that’s 400-500 calories people), if not more, of regular soda yesterday. You just couldn’t resist those root beer, cola or lemon-lime fizzy beverages trickling down your throat.

Unfortunately… soda has been linked to:

  • Pancreatic Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney Decline
  • Miscarriage
  • Gout in Men

… Really the list could continue but you get the picture. Regular soda is not a healthy habit.

FORTUNATELY I have found the perfect and I mean PERFECT alternative for you! Check out the latest “spin-off” video of the GiGi Eats Celebrities web series… I am thinking about calling this web series, GiGi Eats Groceries. Thoughts?

PS: I heard Jason Derulo loves him some Zevia Cream Soda… I think I found my match! Hey Jason, if you’re reading this… let’s go on a Zevia date! ha ha.

Come On Down To The BBQ

Celebrities… they’re just like us!

They like to…

Shovel mashed potatoes and chicken burgers into their traps.

Mashed Potato Calories (1 cup): 200

Chicken Burger Calories: 325 (includes bun, tomato & lettuce)

Risk dripping relish, ketchup and mustard all over themselves as they lick condiments off their hot dogs before actually eating the dog (hey, if I were once a vegetarian, I’d savor the taste of my sausage too).

Hot Dog (Beef) Calories: 220 (includes bun)

Nibble on the rind of corn… corn… mmm…

Ear of Corn Calories: 155 (with a pat of butter)

See how deep they can stick a corn dog in their mouth before actually taking a bite.

Corn Dog (4 oz) Calories: 271

Shove the entire burger into their mouths out of fear that someone might steal their food.

Hamburger Calories: 512 (with bun, condiments and lettuce)

Airplane spoonfuls of good ol’ Ben and Jerry into their food funnels!

Ben and Jerry’s Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Ice Cream Calories: 1,080 (one pint)

And of course they also love to double fist their food for that perfect bite.

Coney Dog Calories: 420

French Fries Calories (3 oz): 271

Sorry EVERYONE but… Regardless as to whether or not it’s a holiday or you’re a celebrity, calories still matter.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY! (Oh I am so patriotic!)
